Ryan Possoco's name echoes success throughout the Northeast and beyond. No matter the division, track, or competition, Ryan Posocco has climbed to the heights that few regional drivers have ever reached and is showing no signs of slowing his torrid pace of success. Ryan Posocco cut his racing teeth by driving Quarter Midgets at the age of seven. He spent seven years behind the wheel of a Quarter Midget achieving over thirty feature event wins at the Little T Speedway in Thompson, Connecticut. In addition to his many Quarter Midget victories, Ryan picked up wins in two of the most prestigious races in the country, the Budweiser Nationals in Worcester, Massachusetts, and the Syracuse Invitational in New York as part of Super Dirt Week. Ryan's next step in his racing career came at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Initially Ryan competed in the Left and Right enduro division that raced on a peanut-shaped track inside the famed half-mile oval, but Ryan quickly made the move to the newly created DARE Stock division that raced on the big track at Stafford on Friday nights in 1993. In his rookie season in the DARE Stock division, Ryan racked up two feature wins and several top-10 finishes. In his sophomore season, Ryan took home two more checkered flags including many top-5 and top-10 finishes and was voted the Most Popular Driver in the DARE Stock division. Ryan took the 1995 season off to concentrate on his college studies, but returned to the track in 1996. He won three feature events, posted several top-5's and top-10's that year. His crowning achievement came in the historic Fall Final weekend, televised nationally on ESPN2. Ryan started scratch in the race and climbed to the front quickly to win the 20-lap feature. Ryan's rookie season of 1997 in the Late Model division was a tough one. A serious accident forced Ryan to compete in only 14 of the 20 scheduled races in 1997. Ryan had to be cut from the car and transported to the hospital after another car hit Ryan's in the driver's side door area after a melee on a restart. Several weeks later, Ryan would return to the track and finish the season in a borrowed ride as his car was too damaged to be repaired that year. In 1998, Ryan won twice and went on to finish eighth in the final championship point standings. He captured one feature win in 1999, but several top-5's and top-10's propelled him to third in the final championship point standings. He won a division leading three times in 2000 and finished sixth in the final standings. In 2001, Ryan was able to finish consistently enough to finish seventh in the final championship point standings. In addition to the Late Model at Stafford , Ryan was also behind the wheel of an entry in the American Race Truck Series in 2001. Ryan took the ARTS tour by storm from his first left turn in his truck. Ryan won a division leading four feature events, finished in the top-5 nine times and in the top-10 11 times in 12 starts. Ryan took Rookie of The Year honors and was declared the series champion. Three days later, Ryan had the championship taken away on a controversial call made by series officials, but returned to the ARTS tour in 2002 on a part-time basis and went on to win three more races that year before leaving the ARTS to concentrate on his Stafford Late Model and a new Late Model effort at the Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Connecticut. Ryan's on-track prowess really began to shine through during the 2002 season. Driving for legendary Late Model car owner Ron Paul, Ryan went on a tear with ten consecutive top-10 finishes and one win to close out the season en route to a second place finish in the final point standings. The 2003 season was a season that had never been seen before at Stafford . Ryan became the first winner ever of both of the most lucrative Late Model races at the famed half-mile, the True Value 100 and the Late Model 150. He went on to a total of four wins, 15 top-5's, and 17 top-10's en route to living out his boyhood dream as the Champion of the Stafford Motor Speedway Late Model division. In addition to his accolades at Stafford, 2003 was also Ryan's rookie season in a Late Model at the Thompson International Speedway. He collected eight top-5 and 12 top-10 finishes en route to a fourth place finish in the points and the crown of Most Improved Driver as voted on by track officials in 2003. Ryan also went on to win the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series ShorTrack Division, New England Region Championship as a result of his spectacular year at the Stafford Motor Speedway. Ryan's 2004 season was one that was unparalleled in the region. Ryan successfully defended his Stafford Motor Speedway Late Model Championship while garnering seven victories on the season, including four of the final five races. He also tallied 12 top-5's and 18 top-10's that season. His success on the track wasn't limited to Stafford either, as Ryan captured two Late Model victories at Thompson while also competing well with several top-10 finishes in his rookie season behind the wheel in the competitive Pro Stock division at Thompson. Posocco couldn't just stop at two championships at Stafford . In 2005 the driver became just the second in the track's history to capture three straight titles. His two wins, 15 top-5, and 18 top-10 finishes on the year put him in the realm of elite short track drivers in the country to win three straight track championships. In 2005 Posocco stepped into the upper levels of NASCAR racing with two starts on the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch North Series. As one of the elite touring series in the country, the Busch North Series has developed numerous drivers that have gone on to NASCAR stardom. Posocco used his starts in the BNS to make steps in the same direction. With a high finish of 16th in the competitive division, Posocco looks to build on his experience in the Busch North Series further down the road in his promising career. That career hit a milestone in 2006, when Ryan scored his 23rd career Stafford Speedway Late Model win, tying him on the top of the division's all-time win list. A division-best five victories solidified Ryan's place among the all-time greats in Stafford's history in 2007. In 2008, Ryan has teamed up with championship contenders Pat and Marcia Kretschman as the driver of the #48 Late Model. Ryan Posocco has a proven record on the track as one of the most talented and decorated drivers in the country. His three Late Model Championships, dozens of race wins, and experience in numerous forms of stock car racing along the way are proof that Ryan is a legitimate threat for the win no matter the track, division, or competition. With plenty of success thus far in his racing career, the sky is the limit when it comes to even more for Ryan Posocco. |
